PROJECT PATRIOT

Chairman:  Pam Whiteside

Following the events of September 11, 2001,  the NSDAR instituted Project Patriot in support of America's worldwide war against terrorism and the American men and women who are serving in that effort.

To support Project Patriot, the Needham Bryan Chapter has adopted Battery A, 1st Battalion, 117th Field Artillery, an Alabama National Guard unit whose home base is in Citronelle, Alabama.  In August 2005, 60 men from this unit were deployed to Iraq and arrived in that country in October 2005.

In November and December we sent care packages containing the Mobile Register, magazine, snacks, and toilet articles.

In January 2006 we sent a package of more copies of the Mobile Register, magazines, and paperback books. In order that these troops wouldn't miss out on the annual Mobile Mardi Gras fun,  we also sent them a package of moon pies and other parade throws including beads, doubloons, cups, toys, and stuffed animals, so that they could have their own Mardi Gras celebration in Iraq.
